Sumesh Kamballur was born on 15th may 1982. He has graduated in 2009 in MFA Painting - Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan & in 2006 in BFA Painting & graphic art - College of fine arts Trivandrum, Kerala.

He has participated in many group shows through his career at Palette Art Gallery (Delhi), Kerala Lalittha Kala Akadami Art Gallery Thrissur (Kerala) Shanghumugham Art Museum (Thiruvananthapuram), Artville Cafe Gallery (Bangaluru), Kerala Museum (Ernakulam) etc. He also has participated in several Art camps around India.

Other than his passion for painting he also has taught at Kendriya Vidyalaya (Payyanur, Kasaragode, Kerala) and appeared as a Guest Lecturer in College of  Fine Arts, Trivandum, Kerala

His illustrations can be found in Kuttikalude Katha Sarith Sagaram (Desi Books Trivandrum), Panchatantram Kath Gal DC Books (Kottayam), Illustration for Yuvadhara Magazine (Trivandrum Kerala),  Aanavarambu, DC Books (Kottayam) and Unnikkathakal (Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature)

Sumesh is a protagonist of his own urban-village life, from there he feels connected with innocent past, turbulent present and much promised future. Depletion in delicate structure of village life gradually in awash with the dramatic propulsion of urban notion. The immense vitality in naive characters vanish while phantasmagorical hybridism replaces when man unearth fantasy, indulgence and euphoria in between. As an artist, he’s looking for a certain order in nature and in the system of representation, articulated both in relation to the nature and art where he has dwelt longer on the affair of his own creative tenure and in relation to the greater ideals of what is the proper order in the society, intellectually and morally.
